Enameling Technology
In the reconditioning of steel drums, the use of the hot waste air from the thermal afterburning plant and the introduction of flue gas into the thermal afterburning plant make it possible to lower energy consumption. Solvent emissions are almost reduced to zero.

In a furniture factory bedroom furniture from genuine wood and genuine wood veneers are coated with solvent-reduced lacquer systems in a newly established flexible lacquering plant. The alloying procedure consists of a combination of machinery and control device, lacquer technology and qualified service personnel. The quantity of lacquer and as a consequence the lacquer waste could be decreased by approx. 70% in each case. By the use of water lacquers and/or low-solvent lacquers the solvent emission reduced by more than 80%.

The superiority of tribo to corona spraying could be proofed by comparison. In addition, triboelectrical powder spraying will be used increasingly especially for special two-layer systems and for layers with minimal orange peel effect. The obtained results of this research work are useful for the powder coating industry as well as for powder paint manufacturers and spraying equipment manufacturers.

The prototype installation developed for the production of powder coatings from melted polymers has achieved the trouble-free atomisation of thermoplastic, duromeric and pigmented polymer resins. The globular powder coating has shown improved pourability, fluidisation properties and stability in storage. In comparison with a conventional laboratory grinder, specific energy consumption has been significantly lower.

In the context of its planned new construction of a paint shop the Gutbier GmbH in Schleswig Holstein uses water lacquers in the motor vehicle repair lacquer finish. As part of a spreading concept, which includes apart from the water lacquer technology also the appropriate process sewage preparation, the drying process and ventilation, this procedure proves as pollution free, economically meaningful and practice suited.

The integrated flow coating technology reduces coating wastage and energy consumption by 90% each compared to conventional wood coating methods. In addition, the quantity of solvents evaporating is almost 80% lower.
This new waterborne paint contains a much lower volume of solvents but at the same time it offers the same properties in application as an industrial solvent-based paint.
