A selective reaction water degradation process in the fumigation chamber, additional sealing measures, the spatial and chronological integration of emitting process steps, as well as the comprehensive documentation of the process parameters resulted in the reduction of ammonia in the inhaled air, outgoing air, and wastewater. A concentration method was developed to lower the level of organic phosphor in wastewater. Emission during the transport of the treated textile was eliminated through the spatial and chronological integration of the further processing with the ammonia fumigation (detail information in German).
The developed technical innovations, which have been tested under actual conditions of use, can be applied in washing roads, mechanical escapements, driers, mangling machines and clothing distribution centres. This optimisation of the mechanical process has made it possible to considerably reduce the environmental pollution emitted by laundries and at the ame time to extend the useful life of textile products.

The German language brochure contains information on an interdisciplinary research project for the conservation of resources in the washing of medical textiles from hospitals and retirement homes. Disinfectants based upon peroxy acids generate an antibacterial effect even at low temperatures. The use of these disinfectants produces a 40% saving in energy required for washing, and significantly extends the lifetime of textiles.
Until now, the pre-treatment of textiles has been carried out using large quantities of chemicals and textile additives. The newly developed plasma technique can replace part of the wet chemistry with a 'dry', low-energy procedure. Usually up to 60 % of the COD waste water load of textile refinement enterprises are caused by washed out sizing agents. In this pilot project the size was withdrawn from the waste water, up-concentrated and reused by means of a four-stage ultrafiltration plant. By the plant and the withdrawal of the sizing agents from the waste water the pollution load from the refinement enterprise has halved, which corresponds to a reduction of the waste water costs by approx. 30 % (detailed information in German).
