Der ZVO ist die Interessenvertretung der Galvanotechnik- und Oberflächentechnikbranche gegenüber Behörden und Politik. Zu seinen Mitgliedsverbänden gehören: der Bundesinnungsverband der Galvaniseure, Graveure und Metallbildner (BIV), die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Galvano- und Oberflächentechnik e. V. (DGO), der Fachverband Galvanisierte Kunststoffe e. V. (FGK), der Fachverband Industrieller Beschichter e.V. (FIB) und der Fachverband industrielle Teilereinigung e. V. (FiT).
The Shaping and Functional Materials Division of the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials IFAM has premises in Bremen and Dresden. IFAM works in contract research in the following areas: Biomaterials Technology, Electrical Systems, Electromobility, Functional structures, Casting Technology, Light Weight Materials, Materialography and Analytics, Powder Technology, High Performance Sintered Materials, Cellular Metallic Materials. The main objectives for IFAM's work are minimisation of material and energy consumption as well as cost-benefit optimisation.
