The German Association of Consulting Engineers - VBI (Verband Beratender Ingenieure) is one of the leading associations worldwide for consultancy and engineering. VBI member companies always have an eye on the complete life-cycle of a project, from the planning through the use to dismantling and recycling. VBI is a member of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). One of the main topics of VBI is the field of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies. Until 1986 environmental matters were dealt with by three different ministries within the Federal Government: the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Health. The central focus of the Federal Ministry for Economy and Labour (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Technologie - BMWI) is to improve the foundation for economic prosperity in Germany for the good of all citizens.
