Integrated Solar Thermal Power Plant in Mathania

The project initiated by the Rajasthan State Power Corporation Ltd. aims to prove that parabolic trough collector technology is viable by running a solar thermal power plant in Mathania, India, over a long period in an economically efficient fashion, and thereby to stimulate worldwide duplication of this technology. The advantage of this concept lies in the low level of subsidiary costs involved in converting the steam generated by solar energy into electricity when compared to a conventional solar power station. The project is being subsidised with KfW (Reconstruction Loan Corporation) funds.
