Bundesverband der Deutschen Entsorgungs-, Wasser- und Rohstoffwirtschaft e.V. (BDE)

BDE is the german industry association for the recycling and resource economy. The The member companies of the BDE represent 75 percent of the private-sector sales in the sectors "wastewater disposal", "collection, treatment, disposal and recycling of waste" as well as "removal of environmental pollution and other disposal".

City University of Applied Sciences - Institute for Energy, Recycling and Environmental Protection

The Bremen City University of Applied Sciences offers international, innovative and practical oriented studies. The aim of the Institute is the development of ecologically and economically reasonable technical solutions for the energy and environmental sector, industry and service sector. With its shareholders from industry and Bremen City University of Applied Science, the institut interfaces the transfer between economy and research. The practical experience benefits also the education of the students.

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Abfallwirtschaft e.V. (DGAW)

DGAW unites more than 450 members from different fields of the raw material economy. In 1990, DGAW was founded for the exchange of experience between experts from East and West Germany. Today the association us dealing with current political and technological challenges. Therefore it conducts working groups on waste/raw materials, landfills, residues from waste incineration and substitute fuel plants, product responsibility / take-back-systems and biomass as control energy.


The INTECUS GmbH, through its independent, internationally active engineer offices, provides consultation, scientific and planning support on the technical and economic issues of environmental and waste management to decision makers in municipalities, ministries, politics and from the industrial sector.

PREVENT - Waste Alliance

The Waste Alliance is a multi-stakeholder partnership that brings together different actors from the private sector, academia, civil society and governmental institutions to contribute to minimising waste, eliminating pollutants and maximising the reutilisation of resources. The members and partners of the alliance come together in working groups (WG) which define their own goals and implement activities together.

RWTH Aachen University - Research Institute for Water and Waste Management (FiW) e.V.

RWTH Aachen University is one of the largest technical universities in Germany and joins the circle of German universities of excellence. As a research institute at RWTH Aachen University, FiW is one of the leading independent environmental research institutes in the field of water and waste management. It aims to provide sustainable strategies and develop innovative methods and delivers hands-on solutions for real-world problems based on application-based research. FiW offers also tailor-made education and training programs for user-oriented needs in the water, wastewater and waste sector.

RWTH Aachen University, Department of Processing and Recycling

RWTH Aachen University is one of the largest technical universities in Germany and joins the circle of German universities of excellence. The Department of Processing and Recycling has expertise in raw materials inventory, modelling of processes and the techno-economic assessment of treatment processes.  The range of methods and facilities includes material characterisation in our own raw materials laboratory, processing experiments of highly complex materials and waste streams in our own technical laboratory and analyses in our sensor laboratory as well as trials carried out in the field at processing plants.

University Rostock - Professorship of Waste and Resource Management

The University of Rostock was founded in 1419 and is one of the oldest universities in Germany. It offers a comprehensive range of studies. The professorship for waste and resource management focuses on applied research and development in the fields of waste management and technology, material and energy recovery of biomass and international waste mangement and bioenergy research. There are about 600 m² of hall and laboratory space with extensive appliances and laboratory equipment.

Wirtschaftsförderungszentrum Ruhr für Entsorgungs- und Verwertungstechnik e. V. (WFZruhr)

The WFZruhr is a voluntary initiative of public and private companies of the circular economy. Currently 120 members use this competence network. The members are technology and system experts. With their experience they cover all fields of circular economy beginning with the collection of waste materials to the industrial processing of recovered recyclables.

Zentrale Stelle Verpackungsregister (ZSVR)

The Zentrale Stelle Verpackungsregister (ZSVR) is a private-law foundation which discharges tasks in accordance with the german law of packaging (Verpackungsgesetz). As a lean authority the ZSVR ensures more transparency and control of the disposal and recycling of packaging. Founders are the Bundesvereinigung der Deutschen Ernährungsindustrie e. V., the Handelsverband Deutschland - HDE e. V., the IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen e. V. and the Markenverband e. V.

Technische Universität Darmstadt - Institute IWAR

The Technische Universität (TU) Darmstadt is one of Germany's leading technical universities. Institute IWAR is one of 13 Institutes at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at TU Darmstadt. The institute deals with the areas of environmental and water protection, water quality management, waste management and contaminated sites detection.

Brandenburg University of Technology - Professorship of waste management

The Brandenburg University of Technology offers technical and scientific studies and further social and economy studies. The Professorship of Waste Management deals with the mechanical, thermal and in particular biological treatment and recycling of waste, the production of energy and energy carrier from renewable raw materials and waste materials, landfill technology and disposal logistics and knowledge transfer in an international context.
