Mineralogical and chemical-physical effects of hydrocarbon permeation in composite liners and cut-off walls

Over a twelve-year period, composite seals for the stabilisation of landfill sites and contaminated land have been exposed to a multiple-component mixture of concentrated organic compounds in permeation measuring cells. Subsequent investigations have revealed that the materials used provide a stable and effective sealing system for the protection of groundwater.
