Waste Management in Germany 2018 (2020)

Summary

The circular economy has the highest priority in German environmental policy. Over the years, citizens have been largely sensitised to the meaning of waste separation and recycling, modern sorting, treatment and recycling technologies have been introduced and comprehensive recycling capacities have been built up. As a result, this field of action in Germany has developed into a large and powerful economic sector that also serves as a role model for other regions of the world. This approx. 40-page brochure is intended on the one hand to show what Germany has already achieved, and on the other hand to serve as an example of orientation for countries that want to close their material cycles in an ecologically sensible way. Resource-conserving management is above all to be understood as an international task to which German companies, scientific institutions and municipal practitioners can contribute with their know-how, services and modern technologies. The brochure provides comprehensive insights and further information on all these aspects.
