Drinking Water

Integrative management of drinking water dams - Development and testing of a nitrogen detector for improved quality assessment

In the past, organic carbon (OC) was considered the crucial parameter for assessing biomass development in untreated water intended to be processed as drinking water. The project partners are now developing a detector that can be used to determine nitrogen content and differentiate biopolymers in terms of their chemical substance classes. This will enable problematic bio-fouling processes in membrane separating methods to be prevented more effectively.
