Overlap of flood retention and riverbank filtration areas: The eco-toxicological damage potential of floods on drinking water

Floodplain areas may overlap with retention basins and catchment areas for bank filtration used in the treatment of drinking water. In the present project, researchers explored the extent to which pollutants contained in severely contaminated water being retained in reservoirs following a flood can wind up in aquifers and thus in river bank filtration wells.
