Drinking Water

Elimination of health-relevant heavy metals from raw waters of the drinking water supply in China by means of weakly basic anion exchangers

Anion exchangers for the selective elimination of traces of heavy metals from raw waters of the drinking water supply were identified in laboratory investigations and pilot scale experiments. Target species were heavy metal cations of Hg, Cd, Zn, Ni, Cu, Pb and Cr(VI). Evaluation of the cost of chemicals and energy revealed that the specific operating cost of the selective elimination are below EUR 0.05/m³.
