Elimination of degradation-resistant substances in waste water mixtures using a suspension membrane reactor

Investigations were undertaken using 3-chlorobenzoic acid as a typical component of industrial waste water. For the biological degradation of this pollutant, the suspension membrane reactor developed is more efficient than the conventional airlift loop reactor, where short dwell times are applied. This process technology will facilitate the construction of small-scale reactors with high throughput.
